2025 College World Series Preview: Teams Most Likely to Reach Omaha

The road to Omaha is never predictable, but previewing the 2025 College World Series shows that this season’s tournament features several powerhouse programs and emerging contenders. Tennessee, which rode the #1 overall seed last season to win the title, enters the tournament as a strong #14 seed looking for a return trip to Charles Schwab Field.

While 6 underdogs won regionals last year, only 1 advanced past the super-regionals and into Omaha. The field of 8 last year was built with 7 regional hosts, so while upsets do exist in the tournament, the powerhouses tend to emerge.

With that in mind, here are our top 10 teams most likely to make it to Omaha for the 2025 Men’s College World Series:

2025 College World Series Preview: The Favorites

1. Texas Longhorns

Coach Jim Schlossnagle just took Texas A&M to the brink of a championship in last year’s College World Series, and previously took TCU to the CWS. This team has been ranked near the top all season while playing a tough SEC schedule. Find tickets in the Austin region

2. Arkansas Razorbacks

The Hogs have one of the deepest pitching staffs in the nation and a battle-tested lineup, led by the Aloy brothers. They’ve been Omaha regulars under Coach Dave Van Horn and are a consensus top-five team in every major poll. 3. LSU Tigers

The 2023 champs are back in the conversation with a reloaded roster and postseason pedigree. With starter Kade Anderson, a potential first-round pick in the upcoming draft, the Tigers rotation is solid. Search for seats in Baton Rouge region

4. Vanderbilt Commodores

The Commodores just won the SEC tournament, over the teams listed above them on this list. They are red-hot and playing with confidence, and get the “easiest” path to Omaha with the #1 overall seed.

5. North Carolina Tar Heels

With a deep pitching staff, the Tar Heels have what it takes to get to Omaha. They’re also playing some great baseball as of late.

2025 College World Series: The Next Tier

6. Auburn Tigers

Add another SEC team to this list. This is a talented bunch; however, they’ll have their hands full within the regional with Central Connecticut and NC State. Still, we like the Tigers chances.

7. Florida State Seminoles

With a pretty balanced team, and the #9 overall seed, I like FSU’s chances at advancing to the 2025 College World Series.

8. Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia earned the #7 overall seed by powering its way through SEC play. The lineup is stacked with power – it will be interesting to see how the Bulldogs compete against the great pitching they’ll face throughout the tourney.

9. Tennessee Volunteers

Don’t let the #14 seed fool you—the Vols are super talented, and only ranked this low after losing their final few series in the brutal SEC. After winning it all in 2024, they know how to win in Omaha and thrive on high-stakes pressure.

10. Ole Miss Rebels

If they can make it out of a competitive regional, the Rebels have as good a chance as anyone to make a run. The 2022 champions return Hunter Elliott to lead the pitching staff, along with a balanced lineup.
