Updated 2025 College World Series Predictions
At the beginning of the NCAA Division I College Baseball Tournament last week, I outlined my 2025 College World Series Predictions for the teams most likely to make it to Omaha. How well did I do?
As it turns out, the field is down to 16 teams that will play in the Super Regionals this weekend, and only 9 of them were regional #1 seeds, with 7 underdogs advancing. Let’s check back on how I stand at the moment.
The 16 Remaining Teams in Contention for 2025 College World Series
Here are the teams that remain in the tournament, with overall tournament seed listed first (for the regional #1’s), and my ranking from my prediction article in parentheses.

- Arizona Wildcats (regional 2 seed)
- Duke Blue Devils (regional 2 seed)
- Louisville Cardinals (regional 2 seed)
- Miami Hurricanes (regional 3 seed)
- Murray State Racers (regional 4 seed!)
- UTSA Roadrunners (regional 2 seed)
- West Virginia Mountaineers (regional 2 seed)
Of the 16 teams still standing, I somehow managed to pick 6 of them in my top 10 – not too shabby! But with Arkansas and Tennessee playing each other for a spot in Omaha, the best I can finish with is 5 correct. On the bright side, I’m guaranteed at least one! Clearly, I should stick to writing about the travel experience and leave the crystal ball (and the sportsbook) to someone with better odds.

With 3 super-regional matchups pitting ranked teams against each other, and 2 matchups of underdogs, we are guaranteed at least 2 of the underdogs from this group to make it to Omaha. Surprisingly, the talented and competitive SEC will send 3 teams at most to the 2025 College World Series, with the ACC in good shape to send multiple teams.

Predictions gone wrong for (so far)

- #7 Georgia Bulldogs (8)
- #10 Ole Miss Rebels (10)
Well, this is what I get for going so SEC-heavy in my predictions (8 of 10 teams). 4 have advanced, and these 4 were eliminated, including the overall #1 seed Vanderbilt, and my top choice, Texas. Just goes to show you that anything can happen in this game!
Super Regional Predictions
So for the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals – the last step before the 2025 Men’s College World Series – I’ll make these predictions on who lands in Omaha:
- Louisville over Miami
- Florida State over Oregon State
- North Carolina over Arizona
- Auburn over Coastal Carolina
- UTSA over UCLA
- Duke over Murray State
- LSU over West Virginia
- Arkansas over Tennessee
I’ve picked the favorites in most of these series, and sticking with the teams in my original projection so I’m not taking too many risks here. I’m intrigued by Murray State and would love to see the Racers move on, but thinking that Duke’s pitching may make the difference there. Check back early next week to see if I’ve redeemed myself, or if there’s more Cinderella magic waiting to happen in Omaha.
